Driven by passion, inspired by adventure

Captain and boat owner Vincent spent the first 18 years of his life in the south of the Netherlands, in the town of Roermond. After finishing high school, he set his sights further afield and moved to Amsterdam to study Economics at the University of Amsterdam (UvA).

After completing his studies, Vincent spent several years professionally sailing yachts through the Indonesian archipelago, the Mediterranean, and the Caribbean Sea. His love for adventure eventually led him to join Doctors Without Borders, where he worked in various regions – including Bangladesh.

Upon returning to the Netherlands, he began his career as a consultant with KPMG, advising major companies both at home and abroad.

Vincent has lived in the city of Amsterdam for many years and was one of the very first to have his own small boat on the canals – right outside his front door on the Brouwersgracht.
Back in the 1980s, cruising the canals in your own boat was far from common. It certainly wasn’t the familiar sight it is today.

That’s why Vincent knows Amsterdam like no other. A boutique boat company suits him perfectly – it’s in his blood. A true bon vivant on the water, he spent the 1980s and 90s casually exploring the canals as a hobby.

Today, he proudly sails as your host, captain, and the heart of the rederij.
He’s also the driving force behind the Amsterdam Light Festival.
